Longtime resident of Miami Mr.

Corbett C. Bowden went home to be with his heavenly father on

Sunday April 24, 2011 in Miami at the age of 90 years.


Corbett was born December 7, 1920 to

his parents Minor and Jewell Bowden in Miami, Oklahoma. Corbett

owned and operated Bowden Radiator Service in Miami from 1946-1970.

He and Virginia married September 26, 1944 in Miami, Oklahoma. He

and Virginia were longtime and dedicated members of Sacred Heart

Catholic Church. Corbett worked for the Spartan School of

Aeronautics as an aircraft mechanic from 1941-1945. Corbett enjoyed

fishing and gardening. He was known to the family as a true fix-it

man. Corbett could fix anything that was set in his path. He also

enjoyed taking pictures and videos.


Although Corbett is no longer with

us, his memory will be kept alive through the family and friends he

leaves behind which include his wife of 66 years, Virginia Bowden,

of the home; three daughters, Catherine and husband Edward McElvain

of Overland Park, Kansas, Elizabeth and husband Larry Severs of

Fairland and Magaret Jameson of Rogers, Arkansas; four sons, John

and wife Lam Bowden of Oklahoma City, David Bowden of Fairland,

Michael Bowden of Miami and Charles Bowden of Fairland; 19

grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.


Corbett is preceded in death by his

parents; one baby sister and one brother, Norman Bowden.


Funeral mass services were held 2

p.m. Thursday April 28, 2011 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with

Father Carl Kerkemeyer officiating. Interment followed at GAR

Cemetery. The Rosary was held 6 p.m., Wednesday, April 27, 2011at

Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
