Erika died June 22, 2010 at home, of cancer. She has gone home to be with the Lord for rest. Erika was born December 25th, 1942 in Rumburk, East Germany to her father Vaclav Mahal and mother Irma Roz. Herachelova. She escaped from there in 1961 and became a Naturalized United States Citizen May 7th, 1974 it was the proudest day of her life. Erika lived in Hawthorne, Nevada for many years before her work as an office manager. Her position put her on the road for the last ten of her working years. After retiring she settled in Miami, OK.
She married Albert Daley February 14, 2008 in Grove, OK were they made their home. Erika loved flowers and fishing, and was quite a hand at both. Her flowers are envied by many as she had a green thumb for sure.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her husband of the home, one sister; Sonja Galisch and husband Joachim of Dresden, Germany, one niece; Gudrun Haufe and husband Rolf of Neustadt, Germany, one nephew; Henery Haufe of Neustadt, Germany; two step-sons; Douglas Ferguson and wife Sandra and Jeffery Ferguson of Burkburnett, TX; three step-daughters; Detta Nelson and husband Ronald of Winfield, MO, Debra Bicker and husband Ronald of Troy, MO, and Melissa Board of McKinney, TX; 15 step-grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. A special grand-daughter; Cathy Adair of California; and special friends Richard and Evelyn Long of Lone Jack, MO; Mike and Robin Beinke of Olathe, MO; and Jack Beach Talala, OK.
Memorial Services was held on Sunday, June 27, 2010 at 1p.m. at the Cayuga Mission Church in Grove, OK with Sam Smith officiating. She will be cremated and her remains will be placed where she wished to have them. Online condolences may be made at www.grandlakefuneralhomes.com.
