GROVE – Four men celebrating a birthday ended their celebration in the Delaware County Jail after a traffic stop resulted in the discovery of marijuana in their possession.
Matthew Ray Stroud, 29 of California was driving the vehicle that Dustin Eugene Macy, 33 of Grove, Preston Travis Ray Jones, 25, of Chelsea, and Jason Peterson, 20 from Springdale, AR and Tulsa, were passengers in when Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputy Mark Berry performed a traffic stop after the vehicle ran a stop sign at the intersection of S 590 road and E 250 road in the Hickory Grove area.
According to the probable cause affidavit signed by Berry, the vehicle run through the stop sign at the intersection and he attempted to perform a traffic stop.
He said the suspect car drove through the Meister car lot and threw something in a boat parked in the car lot.
Delaware County Sheriff’s Captain Ron Teel with the Drug Task Force was called to the scene along with Sheriff’s Deputies Jason Hunt and Keith Fields. A search of the boat produced a bag of a substance that field-tested positive for marijuana.
The four were transported to the Delaware County Jail and have since been released on bond. They could face charges of possession of marijuana.
A background check showed that Macy is currently on probation for a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance after a previous felony conviction in Delaware County.
