WELCH, Okla. - A Grove truck driver died after his truck left the roadway and struck a tree east of Welch the evening of June 13.
Pronounced dead at the scene is Rickey Earl Zube, 49 of Grove, who was driving eastbound on SH 10, ½ mile east of Welch at 5:27 p.m. Thursday evening.
According to the accident report by Oklahoma State Trooper Rick Mendez of the Craig County detachment, Zube was driving a 2012 Hino box truck when he left the roadway to the right, came back onto the road, overcorrected and went left off the roadway, turning over ¼ time, striking a fence and a tree before coming to rest on the driver's side.
Zube was extricated by Welch Fire Department and the Miami Fire Department after being pinned for 43 minutes. He was pronounced dead at the scene by a Mercy EMS paramedic at 5:58 p.m.
According to the officers report, Zube was wearing his seatbelt.
The cause of the accident and condition of the driver is under investigation, according to the trooper's report.
