Grove High School wants local veterans to know that the high school is proud of all of the veterans’ dedication to our country by honoring them at a special recognition breakfast and ceremony November 11 at the Grove High School Gym. All veterans and their families are encouraged to attend and be honored on this special day.
“This is a school-wide event,” said Family Career Community Leaders of America (FCCLA-formerly FHA) teacher Shelly Crawford.
“FCCLA girls will be decorating, serving and clean-up, and many other school organizations are apart of the event,” said Crawford.
“Vocal chorus will be singing, the band will be playing, FFA is in charge of set-up and Student Council will be greeting the veterans and their families at the door,” Crawford added as an example of the different organizations participating.
There will be parking and shuttle service from Cinema Six at 8:30 a.m. Breakfast will be served for veterans and their spouses free of charge at 8:45. At 9:30 recent Congressional candidate and veterinarian Dr. Charles Thompson will be the guest speaker for the special Veterans Program.
Veterans and family will first meet in the high school library for welcome and registration by student organizations such as Student Council, Key Club and Character Counts.
