DELAWARE COUNTY – The amount of sales and use tax see-sawed in June for the city of Jay.

Sales tax collected from April 16th to April 31st and estimates sales from May 1st to May 15th on the city’s 3 percent sales tax resulted in a $74,649.18 distribution from the state compared to $74,727.82 in the June distribution of last year. Jay’s city use tax rose from $3,927.92 to $5,049.93.

Countywide, Delaware County saw an increase in the monthly distribution, according to the figures published in a monthly report released from the Oklahoma Tax Commission. The county’s 1.4 percent sales tax netted a monthly distribution of $363,755.22 compared to $232,606.29 received by the county for the same period last year.

The monthly distribution of sales tax collections by the Oklahoma Tax Commissioner primarily represents local tax receipts reported.

Monies received by cities and counties from sales tax help fund capital improvements.

This June, the state distributed $126,911,732 in sales tax collections to 509 cities and towns. That amount was an increase of $3,445,875 from the $123,465,857 distributed to 509 cities and towns in June last year.

A use tax collected on outside sales resulted in a June disbursement of $10,657,936 shared by 374 cities and towns.

In county returns, 76 counties shared in a $29,036,797 sales tax disbursement. A use tax disbursement of $2,878,599 was distributed between 74 counties.
