Delaware County voters go to the polls today for one of the most historic elections on record. Democratic Lt. Gov. Jari Askins will face Republican U.S. Rep. Mary Fallin in sources are calling a close race.
Polls open at 7 a.m. today and close at 7 p.m. tonight.
With several hot races on the ballot and 11 state questions turnout is expected to be heavy, possibly even more than 50 percent, according to State Election Board Secretary Paul Ziriax.
As of 2 p.m. Monday, Delaware County Election Board Secretary said in the three days of voting, Friday, Saturday and today, 491 Delaware County voters have cast their votes at the election board office. “We’ve also received so many absentee votes that we’re going to start opening them today instead of tomorrow. We’ve had a steady stream of voters and we’re very pleased with the turnout so far,” she added.
