Representative Doug Cox M.D.
Hope everyone is doing great. I had an opportunity to tour one of House District 5’s businesses recently with Congressman Dan Boren.
Precision Machine and Manufacturing (PMM) is located east of Grove. Tony Caudill, president, and Jerry Cook, who is in charge of business development, were our tour guides.
PMM makes very complex machined parts used in planes that are vital to our national defense. Parts for the Apache helicopter, F-18 fighter, Harpoon missile, and the C-17 Globemaster are made right here in Northeast Oklahoma! Precision also makes parts for the Space Shuttle, Boeing 737, and Cessna Citation jets.
Congressman Boren and I were impressed with the huge machines housed in a 120,000 square foot shop that can take a large chunk of metal and machine it down to a part requiring strict specifications to the thousandth of an inch. Although highly automated, the machines have to be programmed and operated by Precision employees who are a group of 200 high quality and highly qualified, dedicated personnel. Many of the employees are graduates of local schools and it’s great to see them get good jobs in the area.
PMM has been honored by the Department of Defense with the prestigious Nunn-Perry award recognizing them for the outstanding quality of their work.
Mr. Caudill stated that PMM has used the Oklahoma Quality Jobs Act to help them expand their business and put more Oklahomans to work. It’s nice to hear that one of the programs passed by the legislature is working as intended to grow our economy.
Much of the work completed at PMM receives a coating just down the street at Pride Plating. I’m glad they’re keeping the work in our area!
I learned a lot during our tour and would like to tour your business. Give me a call at 918-791-1435 or my Capitol office at 405-557-7415.
Until next week, remember, “A loving heart is the beginning of all knowledge”.
