SALINA A one-car accident in Mayes County sent an Arkansas man to the hospital with head and internal injuries, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported Thursday.

Charles Thomas Burns, 45, of Fort Smith, Arkansas was flown by helicopter to St. John Medical Center in Tulsa, the patrol reported.

According to the patrol, Burns was traveling northbound on a county road eight miles east of Salina on December 31 around 3:30 p.m. when he failed to negotiate a curve and ran off the right side of the road and struck a tree.

He was admitted into the hospital in fair condition, the patrol said.
