Authorities were called to Grove High School this morning and the school was locked down at 9:15 when a male student  allegedly attacked a female teacher, attempting to stab her with a pencil.  Initial reports called the incident a stabbing, however, it is reported the teacher is not injured. Grove Police were called and responded immediately, according to Grove Schools Superintendent Sandy Harper. The school was shut down for the safety of the students and the teachers, she said, and said she was very pleased with the response of the teachers and the Grove Police Department.

The school facility locked down functioned exactly as intended, Harper said. "The safety of the students come first. She said she wants to reassure the parents that everything is safe.

Harper has not said what prompted the incident.
