Grove Police Department arrested three individuals this weekend and early Monday morning. At approximately 3:30 p.m. Officers were dispatched to Dollar General on Highway 59 regarding one man chasing a man who was suspected of burglarizing several vehicles at the Village Apartment Complex.
Police recovered three stolen car radios. The teenager stated “this really sucks that I got caught. I stole the —- radios to pay my court fines.”
The sixteen year old male from Afton, was arrested for Burglary II from Vehicle and transported to Grove Police Department and transported to Delaware County Sheriffs Department. The juvenile's name is being withheld due to his age.
During a routine walk through at Kum N Go Convenience Store on Friday evening, Grove Police Officers made contact and arrested Cameron Foreman on a warrant issued our of Ottawa County for failure to appear regarding his attempt to obtain merchandise by means of a bogus check in January.
On Saturday night at the same convenience store, officers observed a light gray Mazada speeding through the parking lot and playing loud music. Officer David Sergeant noticed the tag light was not working and pulled the Mazda over.
After making contact with the driver, Micah David Varnum, Officer Sergeant noticed Varnum showed several signs associated with intoxication.
Officer Sergeant stated that “Mr Varnum told me several times that I got him and that he ahd been drinking alcoholic beverages tonight between two or three beers an hour ago. He told me that he should have not been driving a vehicle. He asked me that if I could take him or or have some one come and get the car.”
Varnum was the advised by Officer Sergeant that it appeared that he had too much to drink and was placed under arrest. He was then transported to the Grove Police Department and given two breath tests. His blood alcohol level tested at .13 and .12 on the two tests given.
