Two Ottawa County students recently took top honors in the State of Oklahoma Drug Awareness Poster and Essay Contest.
Fifth graders Dylan Mishmash and Jacob Barton of Afton Elementary School recently took home first and third place at the state level of competition after winning first and second out of hundreds of entries within Ottawa County.
Dylan Mishmash, who’s poster won first place in the State of Oklahoma, is the daughter of Dennis and Laney Mishmash of Fairland. Dylan also placed first in the Ottawa County competition.
Jacob Barton is the son of Brandy Barton of Afton, and LeRoy and Shaia Wyrick of Afton. Jacob’s essay placed first in Ottawa County and third in the state competition.
Both students received a medal and commendations from Oklahoma Governor Mary Fallin.
