A Grove man was arrested on several charges Friday, January 3rd, after attempting to elude an officer who tried to pull him over for speeding, according to a report by the Grove Police Department.
Robert Lang Betterton, 46, was taken into custody Friday night after leading an officer on a high speed chase, the report said.
Officer Daniel Amendolara clocked Betterton at 57 miles per hour in a 45 mile per hour zone at Highway 59 and 83rd Street, according to the report.
When Amendolara turned around, however, Betterton turned east on 98th Street and accelerated to “a high rate of speed,” the report said.
Amendolara pursued the vehicle until it pulled into a yard and shut its lights off, the report said.
He then saw Betterton jump out of the car and run behind a white utility trailer.
Amendolara apprehended Betterton without further incident, the report said.
Betterton faces possible charges of driving under suspension, driving under intoxication, and eluding an officer. He was issued a warning for speeding as well.
