A Miami man was arrested in Grove Tuesday evening after showing up at the police station looking for a place to stay, according to a report by the Grove Police Department.

John Charles Brown, 55, of Miami, was taken into custody between 7:30 and 8:00 p.m., by Officer Wesley Stephenson, the report said.

Brown reportedly walked to Grove after being released from custody at the Delaware County Sheriff’s Department earlier in the day.

He told Stephenson he had come to the police department “with hopes to find a place to stay.”

Subsequently, Stephenson checked with dispatcher and discovered that Brown had 15 outstanding warrants against him in Ottawa County, including felony warrants for defrauding an innkeeper and unlawful delivery of a controlled drug.

Brown was taken into custody and turned over to the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department.
