A Carterville, Missouri man and a Joplin woman were arrested Thursday night after the man was caught trying to break a pop machine open with a hammer, according to a report by the Grove Police Department.

Nathan M. Wright, 23, and Tiffany M. Beerly, 26, were taken into custody around 10:10 p.m. Thursday.

A third man, Deny Ray Felker, 39, of Joplin, remains at large.

According to the report, Officer Ron Crawford responded to a call reporting two men hitting a pop machine at Grand Rental Station with a hammer.

When Crawford arrived on the scene, the report said, a Blazer was chasing the two men, who were on foot, behind the building, and Beerly was sitting in a vehicle.

Crawford questioned Beerly, and the driver of the Blazer reported back and told Crawford the directions in which the two suspects had fled.

Wright was apprehended, and Beerly was also taken into custody.

A search of the vehicle revealed tools, various items of drug paraphernalia, and a powdered substance that officers identified as possibly being methamphetamine, according to the report.

All three suspects face possible charges of burglary and possession of a controlled dangerous substance.

They were taken to Delaware County Jail.
