The amount of sales tax and use tax dropped in March for the city of Grove.

Sales tax collected from January 16 to January 31st and estimates sales from February 1 to February 15 on the city’s 3.4 percent sales tax resulted in a $417,116.40 distribution from the state in that time period, a decrease from $423,794.21 the city received in January through February of last year. Grove’s city use tax dipped from $30,232.61 to $24,718.15.

Countywide, Delaware County saw a decrease in the monthly distribution, according to the figures published in a monthly report released from the Oklahoma Tax Commission. The county’s .9 percent sales tax netted a monthly distribution of $192,310.70 compared to $196,641.71 received by the county for the same period last year.

The monthly distribution of sales tax collections by the Oklahoma Tax Commissioner primarily represents local tax receipts reported.

Monies received by cities and counties from sales tax help fund capital improvements.

This March, the state distributed $106,154,863 in sales tax collections to 508 cities and towns. That amount was an increase of $4,168,122 from the $101,986,741 distributed to 505 cities and towns in March last year.

A use tax collected on outside sales resulted in a March disbursement of $8,107,507 shared by 370 cities and towns.

In county returns, 76 counties shared in a $23,868,403 sales tax disbursement. A use tax disbursement of $2,251,578 was distributed between 69 counties.
