JAY – A Grove couple has been charged with selling and using drugs in their home.
Dustin Cain Cox, 26, and his wife Cherish, 23, have both been charged with a felony charge of maintaining a place for keeping and/or selling a controlled substance and Dustin has an added felony charge of unlawful possession of a controlled drug with intent to distribute.
According to the probable cause affidavit filed by Drug Task Force Officer Captain Ron Teel, his office received information of possible drug activity in the Cox home.
On August 11, officers went to the residence and interviewed Cherish who admitted that there was marijuana in their home.
She was asked and received permission to enter the home where officers made contact with her husband Dustin. Dustin admitted that there was marijuana in their home and gave it to the officers. He was asked about methamphetamines and he admitted that he had smoked some recently and gave the officers a clear plastic bad that field-tested positive for methamphetamines.
He told officers that he had smoked marijuana approximately an hour before they arrived, but Cherish said she had not due to the fact that she was 36 weeks pregnant. The couple also has two small children who live in their home.
Dustin admitted to selling marijuana for a while because the couple needed money to repay fines he had incurred from a possession of drug paraphernalia he was charged with in Delaware County in 2009.
A bond of $35,000 has been set on Dustin and a $25,000 bond has been set on Cherish.
