GROVE – The amount of sales tax rose and use tax dropped in January for the city of Grove.

Sales tax collected from November 16th to November 30th and estimates sales from December 1 to December 15 on the city’s 3.4 percent sales tax resulted in a $463,709.96 distribution from the state in that time period, an increase from $434,155.06 the city received in November through December of last year. Grove’s city use tax fell from $30,002.19 to $122,401.45.

Countywide, Delaware County saw an increase in the monthly distribution, according to the figures published in a monthly report released from the Oklahoma Tax Commission. The county’s .9 percent sales tax netted a monthly distribution of $208,450.43 compared to $198,159.89 received by the county for the same period last year.

The monthly distribution of sales tax collections by the Oklahoma Tax Commissioner primarily represents local tax receipts reported.

Monies received by cities and counties from sales tax help fund capital improvements.

This January, the state distributed $120,667,665 in sales tax collections to 507 cities and towns. That amount was an increase of $13,256,867 from the $107,380,798 distributed to 505 cities and towns in November last year.

A use tax collected on outside sales resulted in a January disbursement of $9,187,154 shared by 371 cities and towns.

In county returns, 75 counties shared in a $26,381,758 sales tax disbursement. A use tax disbursement of $2,156,743 was distributed between 68 counties.
