The amount of sales tax dropped while the use tax rose in April for the city of Grove.

Sales tax collected from February 16 to February 31 and estimated sales from March 1 to March 15 on the city’s 3.4 percent sales tax resulted in a $419,964.49 distribution from the state in that time period, a decrease from $424,097.77 the city received in February through March of last year. Grove’s city use tax rose from $20,168.72 to $26,360.65.

Countywide, Delaware County saw an increase in the monthly distribution, according to the figures published in a monthly report released from the Oklahoma Tax Commission. The county’s .9 percent sales tax netted a monthly distribution of $194,020.74 compared to $191,047.74 received by the county for the same period last year.

The monthly distribution of sales tax collections by the Oklahoma Tax Commissioner primarily represents local tax receipts reported.

Monies received by cities and counties from sales tax help fund capital improvements.

This April, the state distributed $108,402,776 in sales tax collections to 508 cities and towns. That amount was an increase of $4,310,002 from the $104,092,774 distributed to 505 cities and towns in April last year.

A use tax collected on outside sales resulted in an April disbursement of $8,628,224 shared by 370 cities and towns.

In county returns, 76 counties shared in a $24,080,735 sales tax disbursement. A use tax disbursement of $1,691,290 was distributed between 69 counties.
