JAY - A new chairman of the board was named during the first Delaware County Commissioners’ meeting of the year Monday morning.
District #2 County Commissioner Bill Cornell was unanimously elected to the lead chair, which was previously held by District #1 Commissioner Ken Crowder.
Purchasing county equipment was the main focus of the meeting.
Commissioners opened bids submitted for a motor grader and backhoe/loader for District #1, and a track type loader for District #3.
In addition, the sale of District #3 equipment was discussed.
All three items were tabled one week for review.
District #3 also declared a John Deere backhoe as surplus and will sell it by sealed bids.
Oaks Fire Department will be purchasing a new rescue truck from Blanchett for the amount of $122,263.00.
In other matters Monday morning:
• A motion to sign the award of a S.T.O.P. Grand for the Delaware County Sheriff’s Department in the amount of $24,576.00 was approved.
• The board approved the close-out for the year 07-08 on purchase orders.
• A resolution listing holidays for 2009 for county offices was approved.
The next meeting of the Delaware County Commissioners will be held on Mon., Jan. 12 starting at 9 a.m. in the Commissioners Office of the Delaware County Courthouse.
