LANGLEY – The Grand River Dam Authority Police Department is reporting that four people were rescued from the waters of Grand Lake Wednesday afternoon, after the boat they were riding in began take on water.

According to GRDA, the four were in a bass boat on Grand Lake, when the boat began to sink in an area west of Monkey Island, around 4 p.m. on Wednesday, June 19.

The occupants, who were all wearing their life jackets as the boat went into the water, were able to flag down two jet ski operators who were also in the area.

One of the operators stayed with the four while the other went to seek more help. Soon, another boat arrived on the scene and was able to take the passengers safely to shore. The GRDA Police Department was also able to retrieve the sinking boat and began towing it to shore.

No other details are available at this time. GRDA’s investigation of the incident is still underway.
