AFTON – An Ottawa couple are dead from apparent gun shot wounds in a murder-suicide slaying, Ottawa County Sheriff Terry Durborow said Saturday.

Dead are William Aldinger, 73, and his wife, Mary, 66, both of Afton.

Authorities’ believe William shot Mary early Friday evening, Durborow said.  Durborow said a call was dispatched to medical personnel around 6:10 p.m. in reference to an "unknown medical problem" at the residence.

An Ottawa County deputy found the couple dead in an outbuilding which doubled as a western tack store, he said.  Family members told authorities the couple was having marital problems, Durborow said.

The person who made the call was a relative who had gone to the residence and found the bodies, he said.
