The amount of sales tax dropped and use tax rose in February for the city of Grove.

Sales tax collected from December 16th to December 31st and estimates sales from January 1st to January 15th on the city’s 3.4 percent sales tax resulted in a $454,744.28 distribution from the state in that time period, a decrease from $517,219.98 the city received in December through January of last year. Grove’s city use tax rose from $28,877.19 to $32,385.77.

Countywide, Delaware County saw a decrease in the monthly distribution, according to the figures published in a monthly report released from the Oklahoma Tax Commission. The county’s .9 percent sales tax netted a monthly distribution of $209,006.23 compared to $223,226.98 received by the county for the same period last year.

The monthly distribution of sales tax collections by the Oklahoma Tax Commissioner primarily represents local tax receipts reported.

Monies received by cities and counties from sales tax help fund capital improvements.

This February, the state distributed $122,263,107 in sales tax collections to 507 cities and towns. That amount was an increase of $4,942,470 from the $117,320,637 distributed to 505 cities and towns in November last year.

A use tax collected on outside sales resulted in a February disbursement of $10,606,326 shared by 371 cities and towns.

In county returns, 75 counties shared in a $27,084,536 sales tax disbursement. A use tax disbursement of $2,251,578 was distributed between 69 counties.
