JAY – A Jay man has been arrested after law enforcement discovered drugs and explosives in his home.

Eric Dale Cooper, 26, of Jay, has been arrested after drug task force officers received an anonymous tip that there was a possible methamphetamine lab in the suspect’s residence at 838 Redbud Street in Jay.

Investigator Mike Eason with the District Attorney Drug Task Force contacted Delaware County Sheriff’s Captain Ron Teel along with Jay police officer Miles Mussati and the trio went to the home to talk to Cooper on Monday afternoon.

Cooper allowed a search of the residence where plastic baggies with, what field tested positive for methamphetamines, was discovered along with used syringes, and two shotgun shells with fuses attached thorugh the end.

Cooper told officers he didn’t think the shells would work, but told them he was going to take them to the rock quarry and use them.

Cooper was placed under arrest and transported to the Delaware County Jail. He has been released on a $23,500 bond Tuesday.

He could face charges of possession of an explosive device, possession of a controlled dangerous substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
