Celebrating Independence Day isn’t just about fireworks and summer fun; it’s also a time to reflect on what it means to live in a free country; a time to remember the freedom that men first crossed the Atlantic for, “not to find soil for their ploughs but to secure liberty for their souls.” – Robert J. McCracken.
Get out and celebrate this year with your community and your neighbors.
Plans are being made to put on a five-star gala event on Thursday evening, July 3 in Grove.
The fun begins at 6:30 pm with so much toe-tapping entertainment you’d better wear your comfy shoes.
The lineup will feature the favorite music of Americana. The ever popular and famous Leon Rausch and The Texas Playboys will take the stage to perform their multi-generational Western Swing. Always a delight, the beautiful Judy Coder and Pride of the Prairie will have you wishing you could sing and play so well. And to really kick your community pride up a few more notches, local fiddler Jake Simpson, a young man who resides in Wyandotte, will be dazzling you with his musical skill. Be prepared to also give a warm welcome to another of our local legends – the truly grand lady, Miss Jana Jae will perform as only this gifted musician can.
Free watermelon will be served by the Grove Fire Department crew.
Concession stands will also be on site with other tasty treats to purchase. Proceeds will go to benefit the Cornerstone Church Youth Group and the Grove and Grand Lake Humane Society.
The Grove Chapter of the Vietnam Vets will also be set up with items to purchase.
When the clock strikes 9:00 pm it’ll be time to ooh and aah as the fireworks light up the sky and the resounding bombs vibrate in your chest. This is the time to quietly sit back and look up to the skies, celebrating our liberties as Americans.
So bring your lawn chair or blanket to the Grove Sports complex on 13th Street and join with friends and neighbors. We never want to have bad weather for the fireworks, but if it rains, the entertainment will still be taking place inside the Cornerstone Church.
This free event is sponsored by the City of Grove. For additional information you can contact the City at 918-786-6107 or the Grand Lake Visitor Center at 918-786-2289 or toll free at 866-LUV-GRAND.
