JAY - Jay police officers have arrested a Jay man accused of shooting his girlfriend in her home Tuesday morning.

Donald Edward Tolliver, 37 of Jay, was arrested without incident after a search lasting almost three hours. He was arrested near the home of his mother after stopping for a sandwich at Subway.

According to sources, he had intended to turn himself in, but found the Delaware County Courthouse closed for the holiday.

Authorities were called to the victim's home west of Jay Tuesday morning at 7:30 a.m. where they discovered Vicky King, 33 of Jay, injured from a gunshot wound to the head.

According to authorities, she is speaking and has given a statement from the hospital in Grove to Grove police officers. She was transported to Integris Grove and airlifted to Tulsa in critical condition.

No one else was harmed in the residence which was also the home of four juvenile children.The shooting was believed to be the result of a domestic situation that escalated from the night before.

Tolliver is currently being investigated by the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation and the Jay Police Department.
