The Grove Area Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the following winners of the 2008 Annual Lighted Christmas Parade. Best Professional Float:
Grand Savings Bank; Best Business Float: 1st Place Grand Rental Station; 2nd Place – Arrowhead Boat Sales. Best Church/Organization: 1st Place - Royal Family Kids Camp; 2nd Place – Santa’s Old Broads. Best Band: 1st Place - Grove High School Band; 2nd Place - Grove Middle School Band. Best Theme Float: 1st Place - VFW Ladies Auxilary; 2nd Place – Public Service Company.
The Chamber would like to thank all of the participants for an outstanding job this year.
“It takes many hours to design, build and decorate a float for a parade and we very much appreciate everyone that helped to make this year’s parade one of the best” stated Lisa Friden, Grove Area Chamber President. “Every year I am more amazed at the creative ideas and awesome workmanship of these floats”.
The Chamber would also like to thank the many volunteers, most working behind the scenes to make this great community event possible. Doyle Seawright our Parade Stager and his group – Joey Latham, Penny Sternbeck, Dennis Hutchison, Lloyd Ewton, Savannah Wilkerson, Allen Redd, Claude Phelps. Once again the City of Grove staff and employees went above and beyond for the Chamber. Thank you to the City of Grove for their assistance in setting up, Grove Police for all the their assistance with traffic and crowd control, Larry Hestand, KGVE for radio broadcast and Mayor Gary Bishop our emceeing, Phil and Wanda Endicott for use of truck for the judge’s stage, the Santa Sleigh and for designing and building our awesome Mother Goose to lead our parade, Grand Rental for use of their heater for judges, Grove Humane Society and Cornerstone Church for serving wonderful hot chocolate to our parade participants, Best Western for allowing parking for our band busses, Radio Shack for use of the radios, Classic Golf Carts for the delivery and use of golf carts, Universal Sign for the Grand Marshall Banners.
