Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported a second fatality from the collision that occurred this afternoon at Highway 59 and County Road 330, 1 1/2 miles south of Grove.

 Jay Tanner, 54, Jay, died from injuries sustained in the collision.  He was transported by Grove EMS to Grove Integris Hospital where he was taken by Eagle Med to Freeman Hospital in Joplin, Mo. Tanner was admitted in critical condition with head, arm, internal trunk, external trunk and leg injuries. 

  He was a passenger in a 1999 Ford pickup that failed to stop before turning and was struck by a semi. The driver of the semi was released from Grove Integris with leg injuries.

Also killed in the crash was the driver of one of the vehicles, Tommy Don Bushee, 36. Bushee was transported by Grove EMS to Grove Integris Hospital where he died from injuries sustained in the collision.

Bushee was pinned for approximately 50 minutes and was freed by Grove Fire Department using the Jaws of Life then transported. The highway was closed during this time.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Grove Fire Department, Grove Police Department and Delaware County Sheriff’s Department responded to the accident.
