The Grove City Council approved a motion to submit a grant application to ODOT for funding Phase II of the Downtown Enhancement Project.
If approved, the grant will facilitate the refurbishment of Grove’s downtown area on Third Street two blocks east of Main and on Main Street one block north and one block south of Third Street.
Phase I of the project was completed last year and covered two blocks of Third Street west of Main.
In other business, the council voted to ask the Delaware County Commissioners to advertise for bids on a fire rescue pumper for the city’s fire department.
City Manager Bruce Johnson said the funds for the vehicle will come out of the Delaware County Fire Tax coffers.
Council members also voted to authorize advertising a “request for proposals” for a water spray park planned for construction at Rotary Park in the Sports and Recreation Complex. Johnson said the water spray park is in the city’s budget.
In addition, the council approved an application by Steve Williams to amend lot 63 of Baycrest Village to allow for the construction of 11 duplexes and appointed Johnson as a city representative to the Board of Directors of the Grand Gateway Economic Development Association for one year.
