DELAWARE COUNTY – The amount of sales and use tax see-sawed in May for the city of Grove.

Sales tax collected from March 16th to March 31st and estimates sales from April 1st to April 15th on the city’s 3.34 percent sales tax resulted in a $490,522.50 distribution from the state compared to $510,189.9 in the May distribution of last year. Grove’s city use tax jumped from $27,400.45 to $39,189.94.

Countywide, Delaware County saw an increase in the monthly distribution, according to the figures published in a monthly report released from the Oklahoma Tax Commission. The county’s .9 percent sales tax netted a monthly distribution of $345,192.45 compared to $230,765.04 received by the county for the same period last year.

The monthly distribution of sales tax collections by the Oklahoma Tax Commissioner primarily represents local tax receipts reported.

Monies received by cities and counties from sales tax help fund capital improvements.

This May, the state distributed $125,460,643 in sales tax collections to 508 cities and towns. That amount was a decrease of $2,664,782 from the $128,125,425 distributed to 509 cities and towns in May last year.

A use tax collected on outside sales resulted in a May disbursement of $10,681,666 shared by 378 cities and towns.

In county returns, 77 counties shared in a $28,089,871 sales tax disbursement. A use tax disbursement of $2,819,729 was distributed between 73 counties.
