Grove residents Cotton and Phyllis Montgomery are mourning the passing of their great-granddaughter, Zoe Madeline Montgomery.

The 18-month-old girl was attending a hayride at Orr Family Farm in Oklahoma City Friday night, October 24th, when she fell under the wheels of the trailer.

Zoe’s mother, Carrie Montgomery, of Moore, OK, said she had started to get off the trailer while Zoe stayed on board and waited to be lifted down. However, the trailer suddenly jerked, causing Zoe to fall to the ground near the wheels.

Carrie Montgomery, 24, dived to save her daughter, tearing her leg open on the trailer, but could not get to her before the wheels rolled over her.

Zoe was airlifted to OU Medical Center where doctors pronounced her dead.

Family members say Zoe was too happy to ever be sad. Sadness scared her.

Carrie Montgomery and her husband, Zoe’s father, Shane, remember their daughter’s irrepressible joy, and her love of music and dancing.

Zoe also had a grandmother, Pam David, and an aunt, Brandi David, who live in Miami.

She was buried at Rest Haven Cemetery in Oklahoma City.
