GROVE – An Afton man accused of raping a 14-year-old girl is in a Washington state jail waiting extradition to Oklahoma, Grove police said Wednesday.
Ted Alan Laymon, 44, was arrested in Spokane, Washington on Monday after his family members talked him into surrendering to local authorities, said Det. Mark Sheridan, with the Grove Police Department.
Laymon is charged in Delaware County District Court in Jay with second-degree rape by instrumentation. A $50,000 warrant was issued for his arrest on April 19, court records show.
He is accused of raping the teenager on March 16 on a rural county road, Sheridan said. Laymon had gone with the victim to a Grove convenience store and then drove to the county road where the teen was attacked, he said.
Three days after the attack Laymon admitted to some of the allegations, but never confessed, Sheridan said.
