Dear Editor,

I would like to take this opportunity to say how disappointing it was to read Positive Actions/Positive Results on February 13. It seemed to me to be only negative and insulting to our whole community.

As a parent of an athlete at Jay High School, I take offense to the suggestions that our athletes lack the commitment, parental support and proper genetics to win.

As a teacher at Jay Elementary, I have observed many volunteers working with teachers and helping students. These volunteers do not want to be paid or recognized for what they do, they do it to help our students and school. I want them to know how much they are appreciated.

Jay is a caring community that comes together when our school needs anything. A few years ago we all came together and built a playground in four days that the kids enjoy everyday.

In closing, I want to say thank you to all the people in this community who support our kids with actions not just words. I am proud of our community and our kids. Just for the record, we have crowned some state champions in the past and maybe with the support of this community we can crown some more.
