MIAMI – A former Miami police officer charged with indecent exposure after exposing himself to an Ottawa County woman waived his preliminary hearing, court officials said Monday.
James Lloyd Gambill, Jr., 48, of Miami, is charged in Ottawa County District Court in Miami with indecent exposure, a felony.
Gambill, a 15-year employee with the Miami Police Department resigned in July.
According to an arrest affidavit, he was on-duty and in his patrol car when he pulled up in front of Love’s Convenience Store in Miami on June 4 between 3:30 to 4 a.m., and exposed himself to a woman.
At a later date, Gambill returned to the store and asked the woman if “she would like to see him naked.” Gambill left the store after being rebuffed, the affidavit states.
Two weeks later, Gambill was caught on an audio tape saying to the victim, “I told you I was going to come back up there naked” and that he “drove around without his pants on.”
He is free on $5,000 bail and is scheduled to return to court on March 31.
