Oklahoma City (AP) Democratic Rep. Dan Boren has won election to a fourth two-year term representing Oklahoma's 2nd Congressional District.

The only Democrat in the state's congressional delegation, the 37-year-old Boren defeated Republican Charles Thompson, a veterinarian, in Tuesday's general election.

Voters in the eastern Oklahoma district have consistently supported Boren, a conservative Democrat. The district stretches from the foothills of the Ozark Mountains in northeastern Oklahoma to the Red River in the southern part of the state.

A former state representative, Boren's father, University of Oklahoma President David Boren, was elected governor in 1975 and U.S. senator in 1978.
