Grove Second Saturdays, a series of thriving creative events which are taking Grand Lake by storm, returns this Saturday, July 12th.  Beginning at 6pm, with free entertainment, delicious food, exciting shopping and engaging art, it is a summer evening that children and adults alike will remember for years to come.

The variety of entertainment at this month's Grove Second Saturdays event is sure to excite, and the quality is sure to inspire.  Many of the favorite acts are back with many soon-to-be favorites to compliment the action.  Fishers of Men will once again host their young illusionist, Weston Potts, who's slight of hand is sure to amaze the crowd.  New this month will be a black and white gypsy horse named Splash, shown by Chinkapin Ranch.  Hopefully the comedic pirates, Ladies of the Salty Kiss, will take a night off from their shenanigans and leave Splash with his rightful owner.  Also, because six female pirates in costume aren't wacky enough for Grove Second Saturdays, across the street from Café Tiramisů David Evans will perform a gulf-coast fisherman comedy routine. 25 minute monologues will start at 7pm and 8pm.  In addition to magic and comedy, Grove Second Saturdays is hosting live music offerings.  For a low-key evening, harpist Tammy Willcox will be playing classical, pop, and Celtic music at Magnolias.  Alternative Rock Band Madison Avenue will be one of the evening's high points, playing on the City Hall lawn at 7:30.

The food and drink options at this Grove Second Saturday are wide-ranging enough to satisfy the pickiest eater.  Daylight Doughnuts will be serving hot donuts at 6:00; there will be B-B-Q sandwiches on the sidewalk, and Sam at the Sports Center plans on feeding you while entertaining you, perhaps with his in-stock arsenal of lake toys.  If a sit down restaurant is what you prefer, Café Tiramisů will be serving fine Italian fare all night.  Also, if you would like to get in touch with your inner Paula Deen, shop Gourmet's for the best sauces and cooking gadgets; while you're there, play their "Guess How Many" game; the winner will receive a $25.00 gift certificate.  Last on our list, always a final destination place for Grove Second Saturdays folks is Java Dave's coffee house and café, with sandwiches, drinks, and plenty of seating.

Fine works of art are the inspiration and initiative behind Grove Saturdays, and much will be on display at Blazon Studio, Brush & Palette Gallery, Brown Design Group, and Donna Jackson Art Gallery. In addition, Brown Design Group will be showing their newest artist Pam Liptich's "Photographs on Canvas" while a momentous silent auction at The Brush and Palette is being held for two of the late Nancy Carberry's paintings. You will also have an opportunity to watch with wonder as longtime favorite Vickie McCaul entices children to hold still for her beautiful face paintings then examine the chalk drawings all over downtown contributed by Brush and Palette artists.

A summer classic to rival lemonade and lightening bugs, this outdoor festival is the perfect opportunity to get to know your neighbors in the creative heart of Grand Lake, Grove, Oklahoma.  Not sure if you're in the right place?   Just keep an eye out for the event's hallmark, the giant number "2". Everyone is invited to make their mark on the event by painting this sculptural culmination of a creative community. For an event map and more information, visit www.grovesecondsaturdays.com.
