The summer season has begun, and the Grove Area Chamber of Commerce is getting warmed up with the 23rd Annual Grovefest, which will be held June 18-19.

Festivities will include live entertainment, arts and crafts, a business expo, lots of activities for the kids, a carnival and a new addition – the Grovefest Luau!

The Great Plains Amusement carnival, which will be held at the Civic Center, will feature rides, games and food. Advanced sales wristband tickets are available at the Chamber office for $15. The wristbands can be used Thursday and Friday from 6 – 10 and Saturday from 1-5 p.m.

Let the scent of mouthwatering food lead you downtown on Saturday for the Grovefest Luau, a new event this year. The cost will be just $4 per plate for a pulled pork sandwich and sides. Local community leaders will be serving from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.

The Kidzone, an event that was new last year, has been expanded and will include lots of fun activities for children such as a dunk tank, a cake walk, and Hula Hoop and Limbo contests. Kids may bring their bicycles and participate in the “Bike Games.” A few lucky winners will go home with a bicycle provided by the Fraternal Order of Police. Other prizes will be awarded as well.

Music will fill the air on Saturday with the great sounds from C C and Company. Bring your lawn chair and enjoy the music from 1:00 – 3:00. on the Community Center lawn.
