The city of Grove is kicking off itís new Adopt a City Street program this weekend. Volunteers will be wearing green vests and carrying trash bags around town while they clean up Grove.

ďThe last three years we have sent out shifts of city workers for clean-up, but this year we have so many volunteers we donít need to,Ē said Debbie Bottoroff, Assistant City Manager.

Any individual, family, business or organization is welcome to participate. To adopt a city street contact Debbie Bottoroff at 918-786-6107 or via e-mail with the name of the street(s) you wish to adopt. Once the availabilty of the street selected is verified, an information packet will be sent the group contact person.

Groups must adopt at least one mile of adjacent, connected or adjoining city streets, unless agreed upon with the city, for a minimum of two years. Groups are expected to clean-up a minimum of four times a year, with one of these clean-ups occurring during the cityís annual spring Trash Pick Up event.

After clean-up is complete the City will install Adopt- A-City Street recognition signs, one on each side of traffic on the streets cleaned.
