GROVE – The amount of sales tax dropped and use tax rose in October for the city of Grove.

Sales tax collected from August 16 to August 31 and estimates sales from September 1 to September 15 on the city’s 3.4 percent sales tax resulted in a $481,454.76 distribution from the state in that time period, a decrease from $493,751.90 the city received in August through September of last year. Grove’s city use tax rose from $19,943.57 to $28,710.55.

Countywide, Delaware County saw an increase in the monthly distribution, according to the figures published in a monthly report released from the Oklahoma Tax Commission. The county’s .9 percent sales tax netted a monthly distribution of $228,636.49 compared to $222,880.91 received by the county for the same period last year.

The monthly distribution of sales tax collections by the Oklahoma Tax Commissioner primarily represents local tax receipts reported.

Monies received by cities and counties from sales tax help fund capital improvements.

This October, the state distributed $119,565,469 in sales tax collections to 507 cities and towns. That amount was an increase of $11,271,354 from the $107,961,115 distributed to 506 cities and towns in October last year.

A use tax collected on outside sales resulted in an October disbursement of $8,647,852 shared by 372 cities and towns.

In county returns, 75 counties shared in a $25,504,056 sales tax disbursement. A use tax disbursement of $1,660,186 was distributed between 66 counties.

Disney (3.875%) - $4,154.26 down from $4,575.48; $150.78 down from $184.23

Fairland (3%) - $17,730.81 down from $17,785.89; $1683.41 down from $2,758.31
