St. Andrews Harbor neighbors on Monkey Island celebrated the Fourth of July weekend with their sixth annual golf cart parade. Participants of the parade were escorted through the neighborhood by the Monkey Island Fire Department Ladder truck and their Rescue Truck pulled up the rear.
“Each year the home owners association sponsors the parade and organizes the golf carts and bikes,” said organizer Sherrie Engelbreacht. Several sub-divisions on the island had similar parades and kept the fire trucks and fire fighters busy with escorts. Monkey Island Fire Department also helped with clean-up after the massive fireworks demonstration at Shangri-la. According to Chief Tesreau, "They put on an amazing show. This year they had $32,000 worth of fireworks," he said.
