DELAWARE COUNTY - Three school board seats are being contested after the deadline today at 5 p.m. for the filing of candidacy for open county school board seats.
Jay, Kenwood and Oaks have drawn opponents on their boards that will be decided on February 14, 2012.
Jay School Board's race for Office No. 2 currently held by Joan Dinsmore, the incumbent, is being challenged by Linda Bingham.
Kenwood's seat for Office No. 3 drew two new opponents, Matthew Budder and Theodore M. Smith.
Oaks will fill two seats. Office No. 2 held by incumbent Kip Wade is being challenged by Benny D. Foreman. Office No. 5 will remain in the hands of the present incumbent Benjamin Cummings.
Those uncontested seats went to:
Grove School District - Office No. 2 - Terry K. Jones
Cleora School District - Office No. 3 - incumbent Dale Frost
Colcord School District - Office No. 2 - incumbent David Ramsey
Office No. 5 - incumbent Billie Jones
Kansas School District - Office No. 2 - incumbent Eldon Brashear
Moseley School District - Office No. 3 - Lori Sherrell
Leach School District - Office No. 3 - incumbent Jerome Snell)
If no candidate receives more than 50 percent of the total votes cast in this election, the two candidates receiving the highest number of votes will meet in an election on Tuesday, April 3, 2012.
