EUCHA – A Delaware County man was taken into custody after marijuana and guns were discovered during a search of his home in the Tia Juana area Nov. 12.

Donald Phoenix Barker, 49, was arrested and is facing possible felony charges according to reports.

Delaware County Sheriff’s Department investigators obtained a search warrant for the residence where Barker was staying after receiving a tip from a concerned citizen.

The investigators discovered approximately 1/2 a pound of a substance that field-tested as marijuana and over 10 firearms at the residence.

The owner of the home where Barker was staying at the time, said he had been in her home for approximately a month and carried a case containing a pistol inside when he left her residence to go to his residence and other locations in the area, according to the report filed by Investigator Ron Teel.

During a search of the suspect, officers found a smoking device with burnt residue in his pocket. IN addition, officers discovered marijuana in a closet in a Styrofoam container.

Barker appeared in district court on Thursday where a $131,000 bond was set. He remains incarcerated on that bond. The investigation into the case continues.

Barker could face possible charges of distribution of a controlled dangerous substance, possessing a firearm in the commission of a felony, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana.
