Members of the Delaware County Sheriff’s office are looking for a former detention officer accused of sexual contact with two inmates, said Sheriff Harlan Moore on Sunday, Sept. 30.
Justin Paquette, 28, of Jay is charged in Delaware County District Court with rape and sexual battery. An outstanding warrant for his arrest was issued on Friday, Sept. 25. His bail is set at $25,000, according to online court records.
Paquette was set to surrender to authorities on Friday. Moore confirmed on Sunday the suspect was not in custody.
Moore said the alleged assaults occurred in July but reported on Sept. 17.
Paquette confessed to consensual sexual contact with a female inmate, according to Capt. Gayle Wells.
State statutes prohibits sexual contact with an inmate.
After learning of the investigation, a male inmate filed a complaint of sexual battery, Wells said. The inmate has retained counsel and was not interviewed.
