Wayne Patrick (Pat) Fleming, 77, of Grove passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, July 19, 2018, at his home.

Pat was born on Sept. 1, 1940 to Andrew and Gladys (LeBlanc) Fleming in Abbeville, Louisiana, where he grew up and graduated from Lafayette High School.

After high school he attended what is now University of Louisiana at Lafayette and was in the U.S. Marine Corp Reserves.

On Jan. 17, 1961, Pat married the love of his life, Sheila Caffery, in Lafayette, and the couple made their home in Newbury Park, California.

Pat was a brilliant man and pursued his passion of research and development as well as computer science with several different companies including Hughes Research Lab, Rockwell Semiconductors, Gigabit Logic, Westinghouse and Cray Computers in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He even patented several semiconductor components.

In 1998 the couple moved to Grand Lake from Woodland Park, Colorado to retire. Pat loved being on the water and was an avid golfer, fisherman and boater. He recently shot his age golfing and was a member of the Cayuga Mission Church.

Pat was a quiet, reserved man and was always kind and friendly. He will be missed dearly by those who knew and loved him.

Pat was preceded in death by his parents and brother Glenn.

Left to carry on his legacy: his wife Sheila Fleming of the home; three sons: Blaine Fleming and wife, Lisa, of Newbury Park, California; David Fleming of Ponchatoula, Louisiana; and Rick Fleming of Grove; three brothers: Richard Fleming of Shreveport, Louisiana; Thomas Fleming of Youngsville, Louisiana; and Ray Fleming of Duson, Louisiana, and two sisters Connie Eaton of Folsum, California; and Bobbi Gibson of Citrus Heights, California.

He is also survived by three grandchildren: Cory Fleming, Charlie Fleming and Collin Ledet; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Memorial services are pending at this time, under the direction of Nichols-Stephens Funeral & Cremation Services, Grove.
