David Kent Torline 68 of Grove, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, July 10, 2018.
He was born April 26, 1950 to Joe and Evah Torline of Spearville, Kansas.
Dave graduated from Windthorst High School, Windthorst, Kansas in 1968 as valedictorian and from Fort Hays State University in 1972.
His career was in the computer and insurance industry. Dave retired from Sentry Insurance in 2010 and moved to Grove.
He enjoyed golf and watching football, and was an avid Green Bay Packers fan. His real passion was plants and gardening – he didn’t have just a green thumb, his whole body was green.
Dave became an Oklahoma Master Gardener in 2011 and was a volunteer and board member of Lendonwood Gardens in Grove.
He was instrumental in developing the Oklahoma Proven Garden area at Lendonwood Gardens. He and his wife Carol enjoyed traveling and visited many botanical gardens across the country.
He is survived by his loving wife Carol. Additional survivors include his brother and sister-in-law Cooz (Mark) and Deb Torline of Monkey Island; sister and brother-in-law Donna and Keith Tully of Overland Park, Kansas; and sister and brother-in-law Lynn and Mark Tittel of Andale, Kansas.
Surviving in-laws are Barbara Evanhoe of Williamsburg, Virginia and Tricia and Jerry Clair of Chanhassen, Minnesota.
He was known as “Uncle Dave” to many friends as well as 15 nieces and nephews and 11 grand-nieces and grand-nephews, whom he adored and they adored him.
A Celebration of Life will take place at 5 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 2, at Lendonwood Gardens, Grove.
