Lella “Lee” Baker Vaughn (formerly Lee Williams), 66, passed away on Saturday, April 14, 2018, from cancer in the comfort of her own home.
Lee was born in Broken Arrow on Jan. 14, 1952 to Ellawee Grace and Everett Baker.
She graduated from Northeastern Oklahoma A&M in May 2013 with a degree in Native American Studies. She was involved in Future Business Leaders of America Phi Beta Lambda and the Criminal Justice Club.
She volunteered at the Miami Community Crisis Center and at several churches in the community. She was an active member of Grove's First Baptist Church in Grove.
Lee and Everett’s relationship began from a chance encounter at the Grove Public Library and the rest is history. They married on Lee’s 65th Birthday, January 14, 2017.
Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her husband, Everett Vaughn, children and grandchildren.
Lee had one son, Geoffrey (Geoff) Grant Williams of Decatur, Arkansas, married to Bernice, and one daughter, Heather Leigh Empsall of Parrish, Florida, married to Aaron.
Lee’s grandkids include: Holden Williams, Abigail Williams, Noah Williams, Bronson Empsall, Nevaeh Cockerham, Cody Cockerham, Oliver Empsall, Caleb Cockerham, and Deon Lee Williams.
Other surviving family includes Everett’s daughters: Susanne Vaughn of Shawnee, Kansas, and Michelle Pritchard of Grove; his grandchildren: Jamie Lanaman and Jeremy Taylor; and his sisters Dee Vincent and Liz Hurtt.
A celebration of life for Lee will take place at 3 p.m., Thursday, June 7, at Grove’s First Baptist Church, Grove.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Lee’s honor to the Grove Public Library, 1140 N E O Loop, Grove, OK, 74344. “A book is a gift you can open again and again.”
