Social Media 101

Members of the Grove Area Chamber of Commerce will host a Social Media 101 workshop for businesses and nonprofits from 1 to 3 p.m., Thursday, March 29, at Ferra Aerospace, two miles east of Grove on Highway 10.

The event is free to chamber members and presented by Matthew Maennche, chief operating officer for Sky Net Solutions.

Afton Poultry Swap

The first holiday Afton Poultry swap for the 2018 season will take place Friday, March 30 to Sunday, April 1, at the swap location - 53991 East Highway 59, Afton, near Buffalo Ranch.

The event includes everything from goats, calves, pigs, rabbits, dogs, pigeons, chickens, ducks, geese, guineas, cats, parrots, cockatiels, lumber, tin, incubators, arts and crafts, fruits and vegetables, shirt painting, quilts, rugs, garage sale items, flea market items and more.

This is the 31st year for the swap. Events take place on the third full weekend of the month, daylight to dusk Saturday and Sunday, and on specified holiday weekends. Free camping is available. Set ups are $2 per vehicle each day, larger spaces are available.

City of Jay Easter Egg Hunt

The City of Jay's Easter egg hunt will take place at 10 a.m., Saturday, March 31, at the city park. Registration will begin at 9 a.m., with the first hunt starting at 10 a.m., and continuing approximately 15 minutes.

The hunts will begin directly after the last prize is awarded in the previous age group. Approximate times include: 0 to 2 - 10 a.m., 3 to 4 - 10:15 a.m., 5 to 6 - 10:30 a.m., and 7 to 10 - 11 a.m. Prize drawings will take place at the end of each hunt.

Community Bereavement Classes

Community Bereavement Classes have been set for the four Mondays in October at INTEGRIS Grove Hospital. The classes will be from 7 to 8:15 p.m. on Mondays, April 2 and 9, and Thursdays, April 5 and 12.

Weekly topics are as follows; April 2 - An Overview of Grief; April 5 - Spiritual Aspects of Grief; April 9 - Sharing Our Story and; April 12 - Criteria for Reconciliation.

Gary Bishop, chaplain at INTEGRIS Grove Hospital and class facilitator, said the classes deal with a variety of losses and are designed to be an encouragement for people experiencing loss as well as educational. The classes are free and open to the public. They are informal sessions.

The April Grove Area Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours will take place from 5 to 6:30 p.m., Thursday, April 18, at The Parrot, located in the Honey Creek Landing, Grove.

Toes in Grand Summer Kickoff Festival

Officials with the Grove Area Chamber of Commerce and the Grove Convention and Tourism Bureau will host the first "Toes in Grand" Summer Kickoff Festival, on Friday, June 1, and Saturday, June 2, at Wolf Creek Park in Grove.

The event will feature the largest free Trop Rock Music Festival in the Four-State Region including bands from Texas, Oklahoma and Missouri, as well as fun activities, contests and more.

It will also kick off the summer's Food Truck Friday, with food trucks being at the festival both Friday and Saturday.

The weekend's events include an open car show, 5K Fun Run, Kids Zone, vendors, and more.
