La Hunta Thompson of Turkey Ford will celebrate her 80th birthday on Saturday, March 24, 2018, with a private gathering of her family and friends.

The matriarch of her family, she was born on March 25, 1938, at the Claremore Indian Hospital in Claremore. She was raised in the Turkey Ford area of northeast Oklahoma.

Thompson's education includes a degree from Northeastern Oklahoma A&M in Miami. 

Her work history includes working for the Department of Interior in Washington, D.C.

She lived in a variety of places, including Alexandria, Virginia and Colorado, before retiring to live in the Grove area.

A member of the Council House Friends Church in Turkey Ford, she is also a member of the Silver Sneakers, and part of the Seneca Cayuga Nutrition Center team.

A bowler, she was also involved with the Moose Lodge in Grove when it was an active organization. 

She has two children: Donnie and Gayle Thompson reside in California, and Nancy and Steve LaBette reside in Alexandria, Virginia; as well as two grandchildren, tons of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and friends.
