Jay Bulldogs will send five wrestlers to the state championship to compete Feb. 23-24 in Oklahoma City.

“We are really proud of our guys and with three being sophomores that gives us something we can build on next year,” said coach Jeff Stapleton.

The Bulldogs compete in class 3A and the top five finishers from regionals qualify for state.

The competition will take place at the State Fairgrounds Arena in Oklahoma City on February Friday and Saturday, Feb. 23-24.

Friday the 23 matches will start at 9 a.m. and go till 10:15 p.m. while Saturday the 24 will start at 8 a.m. going till 10:15 p.m.

Champion - Zach Coy - Sophomore, 170 lbs.

4th Place - Caleb Meeker - Senior, 160 lbs.

4th Place - Levi Sanford - Senior, 182 lbs.

4th Place - Caleb Buzzard - Sophomore, 145 lbs.

5th Place - Denton Duran - Sophomore, 106 lbs.

Youth Wrestling

On Feb. 9 and 10 the youth state wrestling tournament took place at the Lloyd Noble Center in Norman, Oklahoma on the University of Oklahoma's campus.

There are two different division to compete in the novice division and the open division.

The open division is considered the best of the best while the novice division is for those who are still gaining experience to compete at the same level as the open division.
