The Delaware County Commissioners took no action on Monday to pass a new burn ban for the county.

In December, the commissioners approved a 14-day burn ban that expired Jan. 9.

County Commissioners David Poindexter (District 1) and Martin Kirk (District 3) said they have received some of feedback that a burn ban was not needed.

“The next few days are going to be windy and we are suppose to get some rain this week,” said Russell Martin, (District 2) County Commissioner chairman.

Currently 53 out of the state’s 77 counties are under a state or county burn ban.

In other business, the commissioners approved a $20 bid by Miccah Hill for property at Flint Ridge Walnut Hill area.

The board also approved transferring $5,000 from the Butler Fire Department capital outlay account to its maintenance and operations account.

The next meeting is 9 a.m., Monday, Feb. 12 at the Delaware County Courthouse in the Commissioners’ Public Meeting room.
